I'm currently studying a Master of Information Technology at Swinburne University of Technology.

My personal interests include:
I've spent a whirlwind year, trying to learn as many different things as I can from Pascal to Java, from UX design to Strategic Project Management (yawn!) but web development is where I would like to put my energy for the near future. It can be intimidating to look out on the vast landscape that encompasses all 'web development' I try and remember that this just means that there are many ways to solve a variety of problems. I would like to spend some more time getting aquinted with front end libraries, and more time building back end code to get things done!
I think I enjoy being the odd one out in a life drawing class, not being the fine art student, or the graphic designer but it's one of the few things that can keep my attention for hours and leaves me spent. There's something special about engaging with a presence that is in the room.
Yes, it is a buzzword, and yes at the moment the only application seems to be for wild gambling sprees. I think that the technology is still in it's infancy and has room to grow, much like my understanding of it. It's something that I want to keep my eye on, and I've started with a little solidity to get my head around what it takes to program a block chain.
This portfolio is still a work in progress!
The main projects I've gotten to work on recently, have mainly been learning excercises to better my understanding. I've built websites with dynamically generated quizes. I've used client sized sessions to mark tests, and server side sessions to handle users and logins (I know...). I have built a booking system in Java, adhering as closely to object orientated principles as possible, including building a swing GUI that was seperate from all user data. I've built half a dozen android applications. I even built a paint copycat in Pascal!
Which each project I work through, it becomes a little easier, and everything starts to make a little more sense.
I work as a trainer in kids short courses at a code school. We don't usually get beyond the basics, but I really enjoy trying to break down my ideas about what I do in ways that they can understand. More importantly, in ways that make it interesting and exciting. We get to use robots to teach some principles, but I think it is most satisfying helping them build a project from scratch be it a website, or a little game. With the robots, after some time they reach the end of what they can think to do and become bored. With the projects, after some time they start to understand what possibilities are ahead.
